Tis' the season for laser: Your laser hair removal questions answered

As you can imagine, Tria receives a lot of questions about our best-selling product; the 4X Hair Removal Laser. We teamed up with double board-certified Cosmetic Dermatologist, Dr. Karan Lal, to help answer our top five laser hair removal questions that we receive. I've included quick links so you can hop to our YouTube video with Dr. Lal to hear him answer the questions himself! Let's go!

How long does it take to see results with the 4X Laser? Why?

If you are familiar with at-home beauty devices, you may be aware that it does take time and dedication in order to see results. You also have to stay on a treatment schedule (see below: How often should I use the 4X Hair Removal Laser) so that you do not miss an opportunity to disable hair follicles that are in the anagen growth phase. Hair growth phases
According to data collected from our customers and clinical studies, we are seeing that it can take 3 to 6 treatments to start noticing the hair loss. Because your hair follicles have to be in the anagen hair growth phase in order to be effective, it can vary from each person since all of our follicles are in different phases, and each person's anagen phase can last different lengths of time. It can take 4-6 months' worth of sessions to see the full results. The thicker and longer hair you have, the longer it can take, according to Dr. Lal. <!--more-->

Does numbing cream or gel work for pain management during laser treatment?

Apply lidocaine cream before doing laser to minimize pain
See us answer this question on YouTube
. We get this question a lot. It's totally understandable as we all tolerate pain in different degrees. Dr. Lal specifies that the hair follicle lies within the fat, so that is why you feel a slight zing when you use the Tria Hair Removal Lasers. He suggests using a lidocaine cream, like LMX 4%, and not a gel or roll-on solution. Dr. Lal also suggests applying a thick dollop and applying saran plastic wrap to help with absorption, wait an hour, wipe away with a cloth, then treat with the laser.

! Tria suggests using the hair removal devices once every two weeks, without skipping a treatment. I mentioned the anagen hair growth phase above to describe why it takes more than one session to see results. If you use the laser every day, which some customers had reported that they did, you are wasting not only your time, but laser pulses on your device. It’s best to mark your calendar to make sure you don’t miss your date with the laser!

Can the 4X Hair Removal Laser help women with PCOS hair growth?

PCOS Symptoms
! For women with PCOS, it can be very frustrating and embarrassing to go out in public in fear that someone may see the thick and coarse hair that can grow on the face. In a previous blog post, I talked about how the imbalance of sex hormones can cause uncontrollable facial hair growth in women. Dr. Lal suggests doing electrolysis for permanent hair removal on the face, but explains that it is extremely painful and expensive. If you can afford it and could tolerate it, then go for it! But for those that want to be discreet and have the convenience of controlling hair growth at home, Tria's hair removal lasers will do the trick. Keep in mind that you will have to treat the facial hair once every two weeks to control the growth, but it will not be permanent for those with PCOS.

Can men use the 4X Hair Removal Laser?

Man with smooth back
Of course! Tria recommends that men use the at-home hair removal lasers from the neck down, since treating facial hair can cause a burn due to the density. Men can safely treat chest hair, arms, under arms, top of hands, back, legs, and feet. We do not recommend that anyone use the laser near the genital area--anywhere outside of the bikini line is okay.   We hope this list helps you decide if Tria is the right product for you to use at home!
