Beautiful Skin Starts Within

Beautiful Skin Starts Within

We all want glowing skin and shiny hair, and this all begins within. What we put IN our bodies is just as important as what we put ON our bodies. Yes, you may have mastered your daily skincare routine, but how about your daily intake routine?

First things first, Drink. More. Water. Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins. UW Health reports that many people often report that by increasing their water intake, their skin has a more *radiant glow.* JUST by increasing your daily water intake! So pause. Before you continue reading, go fill up a glass with water and come back to continue reading! We'll be here when you get back.

1. Dark Chocolate

Cocoa actually HYDRATES your skin, making it firmer and smoother. Dark Chocolate actually contains potent antioxidants. So yes, this is your green light to add a few squares a day to your diet to improve radiance and luminosity.

2. Walnuts

Walnuts contain high levels of omega-3 essential fatty acids, known to improve elasticity in the skin. Who knew that walnuts are also loaded with copper! Yes copper! So snack on handful of walnuts a day, and sleep on our copper-infused beauty boosting textiles at night. ;)

3. Salmon

There are absolutely no risks associated with eating too much fish - Dr. Nazarian of Scheiger Dermatology Group in New York told HuffPost. She even considers salmon to be one of key superfoods for skin health. It's. That. Good. Known to help calm inflammation, preventing the breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin.

4. Spinach

Include this in your everyday diet. Packed with iron, folate, cholorphyll, Vitamin E, magnesium, Vitamin A, fiber, plant protein and Vitamin C. When people say eat more color or add color to your plate, they are really just talking about spinach!

5. Pumpkin Seeds

Because, #FALL. And also because they're rich in selenium and protein to keep wrinkles away and rich in Vitamin E to enhance the moisture in your skin. It allll comes back to staying hydrated to keep the wrinkles away! Add a handful of pumpkin seeds to your smoothies or sprinkle them in your yogurt.

Of course, there are also things we should not be eating and drinking, and please note that it's truly all about balance and moderation here. Consuming salt and alcohol leads to water retention and swelling in the face, throwing off your body's water balance and leads to puffy eyes and under-eye circles. But hey, we get it, you're not going to stop treating yourself to that glass of wine after a hard days work - just remember to accompany it with a tall glass of refreshing water to help counter any adverse effects.
