#1: Your body hair color is too light
The hair removal laser's heat source is attracted to the pigment in the hair. The hair that you want to remove has to be dark enough for the laser to find your hair’s pigment and will work on light brown to black hair. Unfortunately, Blonde, red, white, and grey hair does not have enough pigment to attract the laser's heat. If your device unlocks, but you do not feel the heat on level 5 treatments, your hair may be too light for the device.#2: The laser's treatment window is dirty
If your treatment window is not cleaned after every use, it can build up a film on the surface of oil, skin cells, or treatment gels. If your window has a build-up of gunk, the laser cannot effectively penetrate through the window. Use an alcohol wipe before every use to make sure the laser can sufficiently penetrate through the treatment window.#3: Your treatment power level is too low
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X is effective at all treatment levels. The five settings (or three settings if you are using the Precision Laser) are five different levels of intensity. Using a lower intensity means that the treatment will work slower, but may be more comfortable to some users. We recommend that you start at a low treatment level (1 or 2) and then increase by one treatment level at a time until you've reached the highest treatment level comfortable to you. The higher the treatment level, the faster the results.#4: You are not overlapping your treatment pattern
By overlapping your pattern while treating with the laser, you are making sure to treat every hair, during every treatment. If you move the laser over an inch at a time, you are missing hairs during your treatments.#5: You are not shaving before treatments
It is very important that you shave your treatment area the night before or a few hours before treating with the hair removal laser. Use a fresh razor to ensure the hair is flat on the surface of the skin. Do not wax or pluck the hairs, do not use an epilator or hair removal creams as the hair will not be flat at the surface of the skin.#6: You're skipping treatments
In order for laser hair removal to work, you need to treat at a specific hair growth cycle called Anagen, known as the growth phase. Each hair on your body is at a different growth stage, so it will take at least 6-8 treatments in order to catch all of the hairs in the Anagen phase. Since you do not know what cycle you're in at the time of treatment, you will have to make sure not to skip ANY treatments. You have to treat your skin with your laser once every two weeks. Mark your calendars!#7: You are not giving the hair removal process enough time
As I stated in #5, you will need to treat all of the hairs during the Anagen hair growth phase for laser hair removal to be effective. This process can take up to six months for some people. You will also need to be prepared do to touch-ups as some hairs may have been skipped during treatments. Some customers report to me that they see results after three treatments, and some say it takes 8-9 sessions. Patience is key!#8: You may have biological factors that influence your results
If you have PCOS (in women only) or other hormonal imbalances, there is a chance that this is the reason why you are not seeing permanent results. We have many customers with PCOS that tell me that the 4X is a godsend in controlling facial hair, but it will not be permanent. Menopause can also cause a hormonal imbalance, and it is safe to treat during this stage in life, but we do not recommend our laser for pregnant or breastfeeding women.#9: Your device needs troubleshooting
If you are seeing an error message or your device isn't turning on, you will need to turn to page 21 in your Tria 4X manual for help. If the tips in the manual are not helping you troubleshoot your device, be sure to have your serial number ready (on the bottom of your device) and your order information. If you've stored your device away for a long period of time, which we do NOT recommend, you may need to try the reset method to start up your device. Be sure to charge your device at least once every three months to avoid battery drainage. This method is not guaranteed to work, but it has worked fantastic for many customers. To reset your device:
1. Plug your device in for 24 hours.
2. Take the cord, while leaving the device plugged in the wall, and plug it in and out 5 times in a row, without turning the device on.
3. After the 5th time turn on your device, then put it right back on the charger for 2 hours. After charging for 2 hours turn on the device and see if it works normally.
