It felt like summer was starting all over again when I browsed the runway looks from the recent NYFW 2020 shows. The bright blush, the citrine-hued nails, and the slicked back hairstyles looked like something ripped straight out of the 80s and early 90s Vogue magazines. Let's take a look at my favorite wearable picks from backstage and on the NYFW 2020 Spring/Summer runway.
Fall-Inspired Smokey Eyes

Marc Jacobs runway show. Each model was given their own unique makeup look, but this look above is what really caught my attention. Makeup looks were directed by none other than the legendary
Pat McGrath, who had created 60 different makeup looks for the show, while hairstylist
Guido Palau had just as tough of a job coming up with just as many hairstyles. This wearable eye makeup look was created using the

It made its way to fashion week--but is this look for everyone? Not particularly. As someone who has struggled to fade their own freckles for decades, I don't have any interest in drawing them back on! But, the people that can pull it off really look good as you can see in the example above from
Brandon Maxwell's 2020 runway show. Using
MAC's Spellbinder eye shadow, which has a gunmetal metallic finish, makeup artist Tom Pecheaux created this look which is easy to achieve. Keeping brows natural a full, the eyeshadow is applied to the lid only with a few coats of mascara. A glossy nude lip and neutral blush keep the eyes at the center of attention.
Statement Lips

Statement Blush

Tadashi Shoji's NYFW 2020 runway show, the look was inspired by lighter take on Harajuku girls' style with a pop of yellow eyeliner on top of a blunt-edged black winged liner. A wash of bright pink blush was placed on the cheekbone with an upwards angle that lands near the corner of the outer eye edge. Lips were dabbed with sheer pops of glossy color. The nail art was a standout for me. I loved the wavy lines pattern and red tips on the nails for this look. Speaking of nails...

Alice + Olivia's runway show, KISS Lead Nail Artist Gina Edwards applied tiny pearls from the brand's Nail Art Kit. Edwards applied these pearls to a set of
KISS press-on nails, which I have been a fan of for a few years.
Slick Hair

Kim Kardashian-West's Met Gala look back in May. YouTuber Lana Summer makes the
wet hairstyle technique look easy using a wig and some mousse! Above, you see a very wet hair look at Prabal Gurung, which can be achieved by using mousse with a shine serum applied on top for an extra slick look.

He ended up spray painting the ones that he found to match the solid color combs that my mother wore every day of my childhood. If the wet look isn't your thing, you can try putting your hair back with these combs and a little mousse or a light hair gel to keep it all in place. You may have better luck finding these
plastic combs at the dollar store than anywhere else unless you have better luck finding them than Guido did!"
