q&a: Phillip Bloch's top style tips
What is your number one style rule?
My number one style rule is that less is best! I take my lead from Coco Chanel and my friend Ashley Judd, who once quoted Coco to me.
When you're getting ready to go out, and you're completely adorned with all the bells and whistles,
take a look and make sure you don't need to take one thing off. You just don't want too much of a good thing. Little extras are great in
small doses. For example, you don't need big earrings, chunky necklaces, billions of bangles, and a couple of big rings. Make sure too
many accessories don't make you lose your fashionable way.

How do you define personal style?
Personal style is about pleasing yourself... but not scaring others, so, going forward with the idea of dressing for success but pleasing yourself,
you must keep an open mind.
Never say never to any fashion suggestion - try it first! See if it works for you, and if you're not offending
the general public, then go for it. But always remember to dress appropriately according to where you're going, unless of course shock
value is what you're looking to achieve. Personally, I'd rather people think I was fabulous than frightening. Synchronicity and coordination
make the look work. Just throwing things together in a haphazard way will look like you did just that. Personal style is actually about being
stylish, not just being a mishmash of fashion dos and don'ts.

What do you consider style "don'ts"?
1. A spritz or two of a great perfume can be very alluring. The scent of a sexy man or woman leaving the room can even be a little haunting,
but you don't want to leave them gagging from too much perfume!

2. There is no need to scream when you can whisper. A little cleavage is great... a lot of cleavage is tacky. Baring your belly can be beautiful,
but an overabundance is just that! Short shorts and sexy little minis are fun and flirtatious... but don't look like a floozy.

3. And a little dab will do you with deodorant as well. Smelling fresh and clean is a must, but smelling too perfumed is a bust!
One of my favorites is Crystal deodorant as opposed to all those goopy gels and roll-ons that leave streaks and clumps in places you want
to look soft, sexy, and sensual.

What are your best grooming/style tips?
Good grooming is the key to looking sleek and sexy. Though men love gorgeous shiny hair, they only want to see it on your head, framing your
beautiful face!
Keep those bikini lines beautifully trimmed, underarms soft and smooth, and legs bare and beautiful.
I recommend the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System
to my clients for beautifully smooth and hair-free skin. It's easier than making appointments
for laser hair removal and delivers long-term results.

What is a style secret/tip that works for everyone?
Your body is your temple - you want to keep it fit and feeling right. Clothes should feel like a second skin — they should just
caress the body and feel comfortable.
If your body is out of whack, then you'll feel whack! It's all about feeling centered and
feeling great about yourself. If you don't have time for yoga, pilates, kickboxing, or the gym, I always suggest taking at least
five to ten minutes a day just to stretch out. Get in touch with your body and you will be more in touch with who you are.

What is your advice for pulling together the perfect date look?
When dressing for a date, you always have to keep your end goal in mind.
Are you looking for a lifetime partner, a fun hook-up, or a romantic evening?
Although it's great to tease and tantalize, too much of a good thing is just too much.

What are some tips for staying stylish on a budget?
Now more than ever the "Recessionista" has to look for sales! Every store everywhere is giving budget-conscious consumers a break.
Sales are now not just at the end of a season. You also don't have to spend a lot of money
on expensive clothing to have it look great. Spend a little less on the actual garment and invest some money in the tailoring.
Fit is key. You can buy an expensive outfit by any designer, but if it doesn't fit you right, you won't look your best.
And a great tailor with a good eye can help camouflage the negative and accentuate the positive.

What is something everyone should remember when shopping for clothes?
Your style and fashion is a reflection of who you are. And I think we are each three different people -
who we want to be, who people see us as, and who we really are.
So if you can keep these three different personas in mind when shopping, you'll find the
perfect combination.
A few personal perks can be a great pick-me-up to you and your style quotient. Good grooming is a very simple way to achieve high-impact style.
You don't have to go to the most expensive hairdresser, just one who knows how to give you a good haircut. You don't have to invest
thousands of dollars on your beauty regimen - just find the best products and treatments that work for you. The
TRIA Laser Hair Removal System
is a cost-effective way to maintain hair-free skin instead of investing lots of time and money on in-office procedures.
The best designer labels are not always the best for you, but keeping yourself looking fresh and clean and happy will always keep
you looking sexy and desirable to others as well as yourself.
