TRIA Beauty’s future co-founders, Bob, Mark, and Toby, lead an elite panel of pioneering scientists, cutting-edge engineers, and top dermatologists to develop the first laser hair removal system designed for use by physicians.
The LightSheer® diode laser was and still is considered to be the gold standard for in-office laser hair removal by physicians worldwide.

2003
TRIA Beauty, Inc. (formerly SpectraGenics, Inc.) is born.
With the formation of TRIA Beauty, Bob, Mark, and Toby immediately turn their attention to their first challenge: How to deliver the same results as the professional LightSheer diode laser, while making it gentle and safe enough for at-home use.

2004–2005
After years of research and numerous prototypes, the first TRIA Laser Hair Removal System is sold in Japan.

2005–2006
Clinical trials and rigorous safety and efficacy testing are performed on the device in the United States.

2007
TRIA Beauty expands distribution to Europe by offering the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System in both Spain and the United Kingdom.

2008
Upon receiving FDA-clearance, the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System is offered for the first time in the US.

2009
TRIA Beauty introduces the new TRIA Laser Hair Removal System. Not only does the new TRIA System cost $200 less than the original - it’s twice as fast, so it cuts individual treatment times in half.
